Disco Time!

Our ear drums felt the loud music! From Annie to Blueberries to Cats, there were a lot of different costumes at our disco last week.  The theme was ABC and you could go as anything that started with those letters. We played lots of games and got special prizes. Five people from our classroom got prizes for freeze game, best dressed and for really cool dance moves. We all loved dancing away to the music.

Feel the Rhythm

Boom boom bang the drums went wild as we walked into the TCC. Today we were going to a show called Rhythm Interactive! Heaps of drums were waiting for us to play them. When we looked up on stage there were lots of different instruments. We listened to the instructors Rhythm and then we would copy it. His name was Johnny and his assistant was called Lucy. For some of us it was one of the first times we had ever been on drums. We felt excited as we drummed away! Our hands started to get a bit sore because we had been banging so hard on the drums. Our whole class really enjoyed the drumming experience.

Yuk! Household Waste!

Waste, waste, waste, it is filling up our landfills! Hey have you ever thought of what happens to your house hold waste? It goes in to a stinky horrible landfill.
In class we got into groups, and found our most commonly used piece of household waste. We found that our most commonly used piece of household waste was Milk bottles and Newspaper, it was good that we could recycle both of these items! You can reuse lots of things like... Milk bottles, newspaper,Plastic bags, Tomato sauce bottles and much much, more!
"REDUCE REUSE COMPOST AND RECYCLE 'CAUSE LANDFILLS ARE STINKY AND BAD FOR US ALL!!!"
We made this chart together that shows what kinds of Waste we have in our homes. The ones that are circled are the ones that we found to be the most common.

Bashing Ballistic Badminton

As we were walking down the path towards the TCC we all wondered what was in store for us! Wow, we were going to play Badminton! We sat down and met Tracey, she was a professional Badminton player. She has even represented Great Britain in the Olympics! After our introductions she told us to get a shuttle and start hitting it around. We tried to hit it as many times as we could without it touching the ground. After that she set a challange. We were to come up with a trick to do with the racket and the shuttle or balloon. Next she challenged us to a rally with a partner which made us all concentrate very hard.

It was a lot of fun playing Badminton with Tracey today!

War

'' Boom'' Tank engines rattle as torpedos are charged through the gloomy fog.
Blood splatters as soldiers flop and fall in wartery mud pits or cruel barb wire.
Planes make deafening sounds as they bomb the battle feild.
Gunpowder fills the air as guns fight furiously.
I fear my life is over.

A Poem of War

I am a soldier
I can smell that repulsive stew we have to eat
I can hear terrifying screams from my former trench mates
I can see death right before my eyes
I can touch fresh blood seeping from my wounds
I can taste the biscuits my wife and children sent me
I can sense sorrow the air is full of it
I can feel the letter I am reading over and over again
War is horror war is death

Rippa Rugby

On Friday the 4th of May 2012 4 people from Miro 13 left school to go to a Rippa Rugby tournament at Hautapu Rugby club. We had 3 school teams - the A, B and C teams. Each team had 4 heat games and then semi final games. Team A and Team C made it into the semi finals. Team A didn't make the finals becasue they got knocked out by Cambridge Primary. Team B won 1 of their games in the heats, ALysha got a try though! Team C won 3 and lost 1 of their heat games. In the semi finals they beat St Peters Catholic and went on to play Cambridge Primary in the final. The score was 6-4 to us!
