I found out that earthquakes make a mess of your classroom.
There are 4 layers in the Earth, the Inner Core is first which is solid like nickle and iron, then there is the Outer Core which is liquid. The next layer is the Mantle which is boiling hot liquid and finally the Crust which is rocky.
I learnt that they (who ever that is) have set up mirrors and are checked each year. If they have moved that tells there has been an earthquake.
