A Poem of War

I am a soldier
I can smell that repulsive stew we have to eat
I can hear terrifying screams from my former trench mates
I can see death right before my eyes
I can touch fresh blood seeping from my wounds
I can taste the biscuits my wife and children sent me
I can sense sorrow the air is full of it
I can feel the letter I am reading over and over again
War is horror war is death
